The ‘Poggio di Bortolone’ estate, the Vigneto name is taken from the hill where the winery is located, extends itself upon a multitude of rolling hills that for centuries have been etched with rows of vines, secular olive trees, and almond trees, thus creating a suggestive and unique landscape.
For centuries the vocation of this land to viticulture has offered the connoisseur a wide variety of high quality red wines that have obtained, throughout the decades, the recognition of the Denomination of Controlled and Guaranteed Origin (D.O.C.G.) “Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico”, and the Geographic Type Indication (I.G.T.) “Sicilia”.
The soil mainly sandy in nature with a loose consistency, the plots of land are exposed to the sun and are well ventilated, together with the culture practices that leave nothing to fate, such as pruning, fertilization with natural products, limited productions per plant, and hand Oliveto al tramontopicking of the grapes at the right moment, permit to obtain grapes of great character that are then vinificated according to the most noble traditions.
Our aging cantina is situated below ground, and offers a constant level of temperature and humidity throughout the various seasons, assuring a correct refining of our wines within this controlled environment.
The product that is bottled by our estate is solely produced by our vines, and therefore, the quantities produced are limited, and the quality of our product is highly selective.
Our company is also very proud to propose, apart from our viticulture production, the production of our Extra Virgin Olive Oil, obtained from the olive groves present within the “Poggio di Bortolone” estate.
